The Books that Changed my Life

Welcome back everybody! I am SO beyond happy about this article – something different for a change! I have been reading so much more this year so I figured I’d share with you all my top five favorite books. Here are to the books that changed my life – for the best. I hope you guys can read them too. If you have already, I’d love to talk more about it together. Also, I linked all of the books, just click on the title and you will be directed to Amazon!

1. The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

In December, I read The Happiness Project and I got totally hooked. I not only finished the book in three days but I decided it was time to make a change in my life. I joined Gretchen Rubin’s Happiness project for the year and started making choices for my own well being. This book teaches you about friendship, family, brings out your values, your ugly side, but also the good. It doesn’t teach you happiness, but teaches you ways to achieve it. I could not recommend this book more. Everybody should read it. Actually, whoever wants to make a change in their life should!

2. A Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

This book, written by a Holocaust survivor who survived Auschwitz and then became a therapist, is one of the most beautiful book I have ever read. It’s short, small, anybody can read it in maybe a day or two. You will be grasped by Viktor’s life in the camp but also understand what is the true meaning of life, writing by somebody who values it more than anything in the world. This book will not make you pity him, it will open your eyes to what’s important to care about, and what isn’t.

3. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson

I’m currently reading this book as I’m writing this so I haven’t quite finished it just yet, HOWEVER, from the first three chapters, I definitely know this book belongs to this top five list. It is beyond exciting to read Manson’s writing. He is funny, straight forward, he writes in a simplistic but great way. This book, which is very psychological, makes you think of yourself, a lot. And as you can imagine from the title, it teaches you how to stop giving a f*ck when it comes to things we shouldn’t stress about. And it’s true, what’s worst than making your body in distress about something that you can make a change about?!

4. Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso

I read Girlboss back in September, when I went full force on blogging and promoting content. I felt like I wanted to do something more than just promote eye cream and I needed to add value to my content. Reading Girlboss made me understand the ups and downs of being your own boss (even though I am not one just yet). It made me look at all of the sides of a business – and let me tell you that there’s nothing easy to it. Written through the eyes of Sophia Amoruso, who started from 0 and built an entire empire, there is no way to feel uninspired after reading this book, which by the way you won’t be able to put down.

5. You Are a Badass®: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

Last summer, I read this book and excuse my language, but freaking. loved. it. I love reading books that makes you reflect on your behaviour and choices to see if you’re living your best life. This book will make you want to create something new, make a change, bring something to the table, how to not be afraid, how to step up for yourself, how to take things in and, and how to live a life without doubts. Amazon says it perfectly, “By the end of You Are a Badass, you’ll understand why you are how you are, how to love what you can’t change, how to change what you don’t love, and how to use The Force to kick some serious ass.” (Amazon, 2018)

I Hope they Change your Life too…

I think we take books for granted. Books are the best. They’re so informative, and fun at the same time, which is the magic of it. You make a picture inside your mind of the character, the place, you take in the words, you get inspire like no other platform and you take minutes to yourself and a book. It’s easy to get caught up in social media since it’s so available to us, all the time. But today, if you’re reading this, get off scrolling on Instagram, pick up your favorite book, and start flipping through the pages.  Books changed my life and I hope they do for you too.

Have a lovely Friday everybody!
