The story of Comptoir400 is one of a kind! In 1861, Thomas Wilson first established its hardware store at 400 Place Jacques Cartier and for over 155 years, this building stood at the very heart of the Old Montreal. Today, Comptoir400 took over this historical building to open up a gourmet Italian restaurant.
The name of the restaurant comes from comptoir, meaning counter in French. There are 4 counters inside the restaurant for the four specialities (pizza, ice cream, crepe, coffee). 400 is the address of the restaurant. Put both together and you know what it makes!
Trust me guys, it is hard to resist not eating all of those pizza.
What’s on the Menu
At Comptoir400, you can eat anything Italian that comes to your mind! There are a variety of salads, crepes, pizza, appetizers, ice creams and coffees.
You can never go wrong ordering the Amalfi Pizza for the meal and Nutella Pizza for desert. Each dish is prepared with love.
You guys NEED to get the salmon tartare as a starter. Seriously the best I’ve had in Montreal so far! It tops any salmon tartare I ever tried in this city.
The twist? Forget the original round pizza you know. Here, they make the pizza an XL rectangle shape so you can eat it square.
Everything was delicious and this is why I will be back!
Montrealers, if you’re looking for a quick bite for lunch or even a fun sit down dinner with friends, this is where you should head to! Let’s also not forget that the location is literally in the heart of Montreal.
